Stretching tires
First of all, I'm absolutely against it and I think it's incredibly dangerous. I'm running a 275 tire on a 10.5" rim and to me that is borderline. Apparently it's not even a stretch worth talking about though. I'm seeing that it's popular to run combos like a 255 tire on an 11" rim. We're talking extreme stretch. 215 tires on 9" wheels.
In my opinion it's incredibly unsafe (and goofy looking) but I'd like to hear what somebody in the wheel and tire business thinks about it. It seems to me that it would put undue stress on the sidewalls in a matter that they're not designed for. It also seems like it might tend to "bow out" the tread causing uneven tread wear. I have zero fact to back up my opinion though.
In defense of it (aside from a style thing) I've heard that the sidewalls are pre-deflected so that there is virtually zero tire flex, which leads to crisper handling. I've also heard people say that it increases contact patch.
Please let's keep this thread free of "it's been beat to death, I do it because I like it". I'm looking for facts here on what dangers (if any) this kind of setup entails and why.

You will commonly see 225's streched on a 10" wheel without any issues.

i dont understand why thats attractive
You may not like it, but if everyone liked what you did, this world would be pretty boring, right?
You either like it or hate it, it's just a different style. As Mugen and ASM is considered stylish for us, it means absolutely nothing to Junction Produce fans.............

^^^ hmmm. you sure are quick to jump on him.
It was me trying to make a point more than anything.
Plus anything that is not ASM or Carbon Fiber it seems as everyone on S2ki hates. There is more in the world than uber expensive JDM parts for our RWD Civics
