Street tires for AP1 wheels
I'm in the maket for new tires for my AP1, they'll be going on the stock wheels. I know that I definately want something that will offer great performance, but I'm not sure what te best option for that would be, so I havesome questions.
First, what kind of milage shoud I expect from the following tires:
Dunlop Direzza D1 Star Spec
Bridgestone RE01R
Dunlop SP Sport Maxx
Bridgestone RE050 A Pole Position
I know those are two different classes of tires, and I'd prefer to go with the extreme performance options but if the difference in longevity is that signifcant, I'll go with the lesser of the two. Also if anyone can recommend a better tire to give a shot in either category to check out, that would be great. These will be my DD tires for the summer, and I'll probably do a couple of autocrosses on them (I'll have some Hoosiers for events, but I will probably do a couple of other events/test and tunes on the street tires as well) as well as maybe a track day. Because of this, I strongly prefer the Star Specs or RE01Rs but I'm not sure if I'll get the milage I want out of them (12,000 miles or so). Replacing just the rears at some point probably isn't that big a deal, and I know they wear much quicker than the fronts.
Jim, if you can help with this it would be great since I'll be ordering the tires through you/Tire Rack

Direzza's would be my choice from the tires you listed, however I love my Hankooks for the sizes (205/55/16 or 225/50/16 & 245/45/16 ) and price.
Less than $400 for the set!

I considered the Hankooks, but I've had them on a previous car and wasn't impressed with them. Right now I'm leaning towards the Star Specs, but I want to know about how many miles they'll last me.
