Default STR class wheel discussion

I was wondering what other people were considering for wheels if the new STR class in SCCA solo2 racing does end up with a max width of 8.5 inches. I am trying to find a decent choice and am having trouble (mostly with offsets).

Since I will be using the same wheel for autocross and daily driving, I want it to look great (my preference is 5 or 6 spokes, decently wide).

I am also curious if anyone is going to run non-staggered setups still, it seems dumb to not take every available piece of rubber we can but maybe with street tires the staggered setup will offer more balance? This would also be easier to fit the wheels and tires up front if the right offsets aren't available.

Right now I am considering Volk TE-37's 17x8.5 +50 all around, but am sure I am not even considering many other options. I am also putting KWV3's on the car so I need to be able to lower the car a bit and still fit the wheels without fender flares....(yes I am rolling the fenders)

So I would appreciate if anyone else wanted to share their plans so I might have more insight while researching my next purchase. Currently deployed overseas so I don't have much else to think about and want to have this figured out by the time I get home and am ready to run my car again

That sounds like a reasonable setup. I have a set of forged, staggered TR F3s so I will probably continue to use them.

I'm thinking of SSR Type-C RS 17x8.5 +58mm all round. I'm curious to know how well an 8.5" rim would fit up front. The smarter option would probably by the OZ Alleggerita which weigh about the same, but cost almost $200 less per wheel.

If once all is said and done and the provisional period is over they stick with 8.5 I will be saving for the OZ allegerita's...

The TR Motorsport wheel does have the best size and offset and they are a light weight forged wheel. I have had people looking at the Enkei RPF 1 as well. I would wait to see what happens with the rules first.
If I can help let me know.

Awesome, thanks for extra wheels to think about, all of which much cheaper than what I am looking at. I am actually really thinking about those ssr's. I wonder how long I would have before its too late since they are on closeout........

Now I just gotta figure out if it makes sense to do a non-staggered setup, and mess with trying to fit 8.5 wide up front......

+1. Best choice for everything IMO. You can fit 275's in the rear if you want too.. (if they ever allow it.) Not to mention these babies look good and are LIGHT!

BAM!

I believe these will be available in a 17x8.5 +50 as well as the already stated 17x9 size
