Default storing tires for the winter

i just purchased some OEM tires/wheels. I'm storing them in the garage for the winter. Are there any special things I need to do to prevent tire rot?

I've been just stacking them on their sides one on top of the other (think Michelin Man ). I make sure I have a piece of wood sheeting on the floor. Been doing this for decades and have had no problems. My you, our humidity here is extremely dry year round. I don't like storing them on their tread since after a few months, it always leaves an indentation - not a real big deal since it'll come out after being on the car for a little while.
