Storing extra tires outdoors for winter
I live in a tiny apartment so I don't really have any space indoors to keep the extra set of tires/rims.
I plan on just putting the summer tires in some big garbage bags and putting them outside on my balcony. Is the exposure to winter (temps, snow, etc.) going to adversely affect them?

they will be fine, i have my tires/rims stored in a shed in my backyard, no problem there, but think about it...tires are made to be use outdoor anyway they should not have any problem withstanding the elements
just make sure to tie them down so no one steals it (if youre on the first floor), my gf's dad had his truck tires outside tied to a tree with a chain and someone cut the chain and stole the tires at night, sucks

During storage to minimize oxidizing tire rubber, I wrap the tires in pallet/stretch wrap plastic. It's kind of like a big roll of Saran wrap. You can get it at Lowes or OfficeMax, or places like that. Once you've "wrapped" the tires concentrating on the actual tire tread, then store the tires in plastic bags. Garabage bags are fine, but IKEA sells zippered plastic tire storage bags pretty cheap.
Anyway that's my process for storing my autocross tires long term.
