ok, so i go to discount tire to order some 245/45/16 for the rear and he said they can't do it because those are too wide for a 7.5" wheel. he said if anything happens they don't wanna be liable so they can't do it. i told him the whole thing about the OEM tires are 225, but they're actually a 245.. but he didn't really acknoledge any of that.

Such BS. All the 245/45/16 tires on TireRack list the recommended rim width for them as 7.5-9".
You could always just order the tires online and get them installed (at another, non-idiotic Discount Tire).
