Still not sure if my BBS will fit...having second thoughts...help?
Hi guys. So I actually have a thread probably not too far down from here talking about my BBS RS wheels. After going back and forth to the wheel fitment guide thread I thought I was all set thinking "yea these will fit" HOWEVER I think I may have overlooked something.
So I just ordered my BBS RS wheels and the specs are:
5Hx114.3 @ 17x8 et 45, 17x9 et 53
SO, according to the fitment guide,
For the front:
205 tires: +43 offset minimum (6.5” to 7.5” wide wheel)
215 tires: +48 offset minimum (7.0” to 8.0” wide wheel)
225 tires: +53 offset minimum (7.0” to 8.0” wide wheel)
235 tires: +58 offset minimum (7.5” to 8.5” wide wheel)
245 tires: +63 offset minimum (7.5” to 8.5” wide wheel)
For the rear:
235 tires: +40 offset minimum (7.5” to 8.5” wide wheel)
245 tires: +45 offset minimum (7.5” to 9.0” wide wheel)
255 tires: +50 offset minimum (8.0” to 9.5” wide wheel)
265 tires: +55 offset minimum (8.5” to 9.5” wide wheel)
275 tires: +60 offset minimum (9.0” to 10.0” wide wheel)
285 tires: +65 offset minimum (9.0” to 10.0” wide wheel)
For my FRONT: I'd need a +48 offset MINIMUM for 215 tires (since it was a 8" wide wheel) and I only have +45 in this case.
For my REAR: I think I'm ok, having a 9" width with +53, I could run 255 even 245.
Am I screwed? Or is there a solution. In case you need to know I have a 2000 AP1 currently with stock suspension. Of course, in the near future (maybe 4 months from now) I will be upgrading to coilovers, so keep that in mind. I know for the front +3 difference doesn't "sound" like alot, but hey tires are some of the most important components of the car and I would like to have everything safe and sound.
If the pro's/guru's could give me some solid advice I would very much appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

you're gonna need to trim your fender liner at the very least, run some negative camber and run 215/45/17s
i was trying to fit 17x8 +45 bbs RSIIs on the front and my 225s were a bit too wide and I wasn't running enough negative camber, but when i made one turn onto an inclined surface, the tire caught one of my tucked bumper tabs and f@#ked my shit up.
your backs should fit pretty close to perfectly.

Cool thanks @ AndrewLin. To be honest, I had no idea what fender trimming was until I googled it just now. I also saw a thread on how to do it, but I still don't understand it. By trimming the fender what is this allowing me to do? Am I trimming the inner liner thats closer to the oustide (closer to the paint)? or is it deeper towards the center of the car. If you have any links please let me know.

I honestly wish I took pictures of when I did mine, but my wheels were rubbing on the outer fender, closer to the paint side.
If you go out and run your finger along the inside of your fender, you'll feel where the plastic juts down a tad bit, the bumper tabs are right behind there and that's where my wheels rubbed.
I trimmed the liner and bent the bumper tabs up and in, trying to ensure that they didn't rub anymore.
You're gonna have to be extremely careful and get a good alignment and run a lot of camber.
and yes, I'd recommend getting your fenders rolled.
