I got 8K out of my last set. At the wear bars these tires are nowhere near as grippy. By the time my rears were 2/3nds, my fronts were 4/32nds and all were heatcycled out. So it's not your typical wear the rears 2X as fast as fronts. I had 2 HPDE's and 8 AutoX's on that set. The Set I'm on now doesn't seem to be wearing as well, but it has been over 100 in Texas the past few weeks.

Emphatically agree. Last year in the rain at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, the tires were AMAZING, I was passing everything that moved including cars on Hoosier wets! I felt like the car and tires could absolutely do no wrong!

But this past week at Mont Tremblant in the wet, the car was damn near undriveable. Scary, multiple tankslappers, no rear grip, nowhere, no how, and not a helluva lot of front grip, either. That was with ~6/32 remaining up front and ~3/32 remaining in back. It's not like the rears had seen a lot of hard usage, either, just two track days (including last week). Wear is mainly from ~7500 miles street usage.

Anyway, I've had great experiences with Star Specs, and now I've had a lousy one!

I have heard (don't know if it's true) that the star specs have 2 types of rubber with a harder rubber compound starting at the wear bars.

Here is a link to show what happens with lower tread depth in the wet.
