Ok. So how, exactly, are the Yokohamas and Bridgestones "a whole different realm of performance" (your words, verbatim) in daily driving if they're not on the track/autocross?

its more or less an opinion like the rest of this thread/my posts in this thread. Ive had better luck with the bridgestones as far as "feel" of the car and noise. admittedly noise doesnt really apply here but its something to know. Also i personally think that the bridgestones, although a summer tire, deal with water a little better. i live in washington and it rains alot here. its a consideration even if the car is a summer only car. never know when its going to burst into a downpour.
as for the yoks, well i just like em. maybe thats just some bias.

You take the time/space to write up a review of a tire and then (unintentionally I'm sure) make misleading comments about that tire's relative performance vs. other similar tires, I'd say you care way too much on the one hand but at the same time not nearly enough on the other!

The only thing I'd add is the fact that they are pretty noisy tires. Granted, I do not have personal experience with the other stickier compound tires like Advan Neovas or Michelin PS2's, but this is my second set of Star Specs.
I drive my car on a daily basis and the sticky compund definitely does not help with low speed steering. It is noticibly heavier, but yes you do get used to it.
As for the size, are you sure you did not pick up 225/45/17's? A while ago I was looking to replace my stock sizes but I didn't think they produced the fronts in 215/45/17's. The smallest sizes (to match the diameter w/ the fronts) were 225/45/17 and 255/40/17.
The only other thing about the tires is the noise/vibration; but it's expected with the stickyness.

100% positive on the 215/45.
as for noise i did notice that the construction of the center rib actually gets wider as it wears. it looked as if it had a stepped shoulder so after X percentage of wear it would begin getting into that second width. i do wonder if that contributes to the noise.
