Default Staggered tire setup and rolling diameter differences

I've done the normal OEM setups on the OEM 17x7F and 17x8.5R wheels.

Staggered setups I've run are:

215/45f with 245/40r
225/45f with 255/40r

Since then i've been running 17x9 square with 255/40 square (your standard track non-staggered setup). It works well with a wing.

I have since sourced some 17x10 +52 wheels.

Now I'm trying to figure out if this will work.

17x9F with 255/40
17x10R with 275/40

According to willtheyfit.com this is the following difference

255/40/r17 275/40/r17
Diameter 635.8mm 651.8mm
Circumference 1997.4mm 2047.7mm
Poke 66.3mm 75mm
Inset 162.3mm 179mm
Speedo error 0% -2.45%
Reading at 30mph 30mph 29.26mph
Reading at 60mph 60mph 58.53mph
Ride height gain 0mm 8mm
Arch gap loss 0mm 8mm

The other option is to keep it simple and just run

245/40F with 255/40R - I know that works.

And, I can just run a square tire setup on the staggered rims too. Also, how much extra is that fender wise in the rear to run a 17x10 with a 275? I've already done the standard roll, tab relocate, and minor pull. I run about -3.0 camber all around for track use.

275/40 is a pretty tall tire. I run a 9 front and 10 rear and run a 245 front and 255 rear. The 275 will be tall and need more room but you have a good offset so it could fit. Someone else can chime in about the extra height.

The car will handle nicer with a bit better turn in with a 245/255 stagger on those wheel widths. Tire compound is just as crucial if not more so then just width for traction, and your choices for a good handling and sticky compound tire in a 275/40 isnt nearly as good as the 255/40 options. Nitto 555 is garbage, so that leaves either the kuhmo xs or Toyo r1r that I know of, and out of those the kuhmo is the clear winner for me, but its also a 7 year old design, if that helps puts things in perspective. If you want to try any of the current line up ie; Starspec, RS3, Re11a etc then you need to choose a 255.

Like stated, a 275 is tall and will though your gearing and speedo off. Only other 275 I can think of is the Nitto NT05.

Cool. Thanks for the input manga and junky.

I've been driving on RE-11a and ZIIs with 17x9 square.

The 275/40 would have been the NT-05.

I've since decided to do 255 square. The wheel stagger and my current suspension setup will give me what I need for a wingless setup. I'm all stock power anyway, with the exception of a testpipe on track to save my cat.
