shipping wheels
long story short: im returning my leased SUV but my stock wheels are in nj and need to get them to florida. how would you guys ship wheels if you had to? how does everyone else ship them? i would hate to give the truck back with these wheels on but if it costs an arm and a leg...so be it.

let the air out of the tires. find 4 shipping boxes and go.
some people just put them in garbage bags with cardboard or plywood over the faces and tape them up.

go to staples and buy a large roll of self cling wrap and some small bubble wrap. Cut some carboard in the diameter of the rim. Place a sheet or 2 or 3 of bubble wrap on the face of the wheel. Cover with the cardboard. Tape the cardboard in 4 spots to the tire. Wrap the wheel/tire with the self cling wrap liberally until the wrap is bunker buster bomb proof. Repeat steps for the next 3 wheels/tires. Ship the wheels in the cling wrap. No trash bags or boxes needed.
I have shipped wheels to chicago and boston in this manner and they have arrived perfect both times. Do not put cardboard directly on the face of the wheels if you care about scratching. Sometimes cardboard will scrath the face of the wheels. Do not let air out of the tires as well as the lip of the wheel becomes more exposed to chipping and rash. B/c it is a lease I doubt you care but just giving you a heads up.

i've used fedex in the past. cost about 30/wheel.
a bunch of people have had success with greyhound, but you can only ship them to a nearby greyhound terminal
