Default SELECTING TIRES

Hey Im looking into buying some new tires for my 05ap2 , I use it for dd and some spirited runs and canyons. But mainly for dd ,l right now my cars sitting on some Riken Raptors...(came with from the dealer)and all I can say is that They are whack as hell. Spun out about 2 times loses traction pretty easily and also fish tails a whole lot. Wet or dry! And it still seems to have 70+ tread left... O_o.. Well ne ways looking for some advices on good dd tires!!

I’ve been researching a good DD on a budget. I think it’s down to the continental extremecontact dw, Sumitomo HTRZ III, and the Hankook Ventus V12.

I initially had Kumho ASX on the car....was NOT impressed, the back end loose a lot with those. I replaced those with the Sumitomo HTRZ III....LOVE them. I'm on my second set right now. The car is a DD with brief spirited drives (much like the OP), and I got about 20K miles out of them. Considering they are a low profile performance tire, they are pretty quiet with respect to road noise.

Good luck with the decision.

Check out the wheel and tire section, there are multiple threads discussing the pros and cons of most tires.. We need people to try the new BFG gforce sport comp 2. They seem like good tires but there are no reviews from people on the boards. You should try them and let us know. The original gforce sports were good tires so these should be better.
I love my star specs but if you don't want to buy tires every year go with the hankook Evo v12

Definitely check the Wheel and Tire section. I've seen good results with the Conti DW as a DD. However, I really don't put THAT many miles on my tires, so next time I'll go with the SS or RS3.

I started out using Bridgestone S02 and they had really great grip but I burned through them way to fast. I then switched up to the Toyo T1R and they werent bad but I wasnt really impressed with the ride quality or the grip. I currently run the Continental DW and I have to say I am really liking them so far. They dont wear down super fast and they are great for DD and the occasional drive in the hills. Also I liked that they were way cheaper then the S02. Overall the DW's are not too expensive and have a good ride to DD with and decent grip for those canyon drive.

Only advice, dont try to "save money" on tires, you'll end up in a God Damn ditch! It happened to me on a past car, went with shitty Kumhos and smashed my shit up into a 7'' high curb. Im gonna go non directional too so i can swap the wheels from side to side and even out the tread wear.

HRTZIII's are a great budget tire; wet or dry.
