Safe to mix tire brands front and rear?
I need to replace the rear tires (stock RE050) on my 2004 S2K, but I am considering switching to another brand (haven't decided which yet). Is this safe, or should I just replace them with stock again and change to a new brand when all four need replacing?
Also, the reason I need to replace them is the left rear is delaminating along the inner side wall. What started out as a very small bubble a few months ago now covers about 10% of the circumference of the tire and has extended over the edge onto the tread, producing a very bumpy ride for last couple of days. Has anyone else had this problem with the RE050's?

I agree with sweetmeat. In everyday driving it would be fine. The problem is when you need the car to really handle its best it won't. Say when someone pulls out in front of you and your front tires stick like glue and the rear tires don't. You end up doing a 360 and hitting whatever pulled out in front of you.
If I can help let me know.

Thanks guys. I thought it would be best not to mix brands, but I wanted to see if anyone had good experience with it. I've ordered two new RE 050s.
Jim, I'll probably contact you when it's time to change all four tires.
