Default S03's ?'s 245 45 R16

I have the opportunity to buy some potenza's S03's for my OEM rear rims. Will I have any trouble with mounting 245/45 R16's? Any safety concerns? Also Would $200 a tire be a good deal?

245/45-16 will be the correct tire size when using a S03 in the rear. $200 is what Tirerack charges for them.

Thanks S2kracka. I appreciate your feedback. I've had poor experience in tire selection:

When I had a 2 wheel rice rocket, the "top shelf" rear tire blew out at a relatively safe 65 MPH on the highway. So I'm pretty cautious.

It looks like my local speed shop is passing along the savings from Tire Rack and charging tremendously for Mounting balance and disposal.

If there were less expensive alternative to these sneakers, What would you suggest on OEM 16"' rims.

Yokohama AVS Sport?
Michelin Pilot Sport?
Kumho Ecsta Supra 712?

Hmm Maybe I should setup a poll.

Switched to S03's in February. My setup is 205's on the front, 245's rear on stock rims. I think most of this board recommends against going with wider fronts, since this tends toward oversteer.

Replaced from 205F 225R Dunlop SP5000, which came with the car at purchase. The old tire caught a nail half inch from sidewall. with about 10k on the tire, the rears would have lasted maybe 2k more anyway.

The wider BS feels better planted, and i have better feedback from them. Dunlops seem better suited to rain, but I have yet to drive these in warmer wet weather.

As for tires being safe, all depends on how you care for them and what you drive through.

For cheaper tires, those Fuzions seem to be getting some pretty good reviews, and at under $100 they sound pretty nice.
