Default RO_JA wheels mess!

Let me know what you all think. I ordered my RO_JA Formula 5 gun metal wheels 2 months ago from a VERY reliable wheel store. They were promised to me in 4 to 6 weeks, which I have learned in past experiences with my 3000GT VR4 means 6 to 8. Okay no problem. This past Friday (roughly 8 weeks) I get a phone call saying they were shipped from California to Chicago and when in Chicago gettting ready to come to Wisconsin they realized they were made to the wrong offset specs. Now I know the demo car for these wheels is an S2000 and the order was placed for an S2000 so I find this wierd. They say they will rush and have me another set within 1.5 weeks. Do you think they screwed up, they never made them or what? But for $2,800 with tires I question the stories I am getting.

2800 for Ro_Ja wheels and tires? I didn't know they were that expensive. Are they forged? 1 piece? 2 pieces? If I recall RJ's wheels are made by Motegi, which are mostly cast wheels...

No disrespect to RJ (sorry bud), but for that kind of money you can be looking at top of the line Work wheels WITH tires in the proper offset.

I second Mingster, I can personally get you a set of 18x8, 18x9 Volk Racing TE37s with the proper offset for around $2K, all you need to do is order a set 18" tires from Tire Rack. I believe you can get a food set for about $800

THA: I can get the same wheels for you for $1700 which was my cost when I inquired about the wheels and they were ready to ship the next day if I wanted them. How much were you quoted for the wheels?? I think you are being fed a line of bull. For the price you quoted, I think there are several other choices that would be better IMHO. I think there was a thread on this board for custom made wheels made to order. Intro forged wheels are made to YOUR specs. They are offering a 18x7 18x10 staggered set for $1700 in any color you want with a high polish lip.

I looked into these wheels awhile back (last Sept. or Oct.) and they told me that they didn't have the correct offsets for the S2000. Something of the max of +50 for 8" front and +53 or +55 for the 9" rears. These may work if you don't lower your car. The one that's on RJ's car is not the spec for regular S2000. He has a wide body Veilside kit which make the rears a little different spec.

Richard, yes, they are 1 or 2 piece forged centers.

The Ro Ja line are all forged wheels. Its sort of thier "premium line" of wheels. I've heard that American Racing/Motegi/Ro Ja is just slow in production...kind of frustrating for all their customers.

Well I finally found my invoice - FROM ALMOST 3 MONTHS AGO!!! and it looks like I am paying $1,746 for all 4 wheels, not as bad as I thought. I also told them today that if I do not have them in my posession by this upcoming Monday that they can shine 'em up and shove them. So maybe next week I will be in the market for some different wheels, if that is the case I am going with the quickest promised delivery date.

Well finally got them on my car. The wait is over. Didn't want Volk or SSR because everyone and their mom has them. RO_JA Wheels was great got a call from them on my cell phone when they heard about my situation. And Big Bear Tire where I ordered the wheels from was great to doing everything they could to make the situation okay.
