Default Rims & Tire Sizes

Im going to order some rims. Gram Lights 57S to be exact.
I just dont know what sizes are right since everyone changes them.

For the front, is 17x7.5 +48 offset ok?
For the rear, is 17x7.5 +48 offset also ok?

Im on their website, and it shows that this is the one for the Honda s2000. However, i thought the rear was a different size.

Also as for tires, they are recommending
Front: 205/50R17*
Rear: 225/45R17*

Is that correct also?

Im sorry im such a newbie on this. Someone please help me so i can order it within this week. Thanks!

Although you can "get away" with it, you should not run the same size rim front and back. The S2000 has a staggered rim and tire configuration. IE, the rears are wider than the fronts and the offset a bit higher to compensate for this. An offset of +48 is too small. The fronts should be in the +mid-50s and the rear should in the +mid-60s.
7.5 wide is OK for the front, but the rears should be 8.5 or 9.0.
And Honda uses 215/50/17 and 245/45/17 as OEM on the newer cars. Many owners with aftermarket rims are running 225/45/17 and 255/40/17.

Hello Xviper,

I have a similar question. I want to order SSR GT1 in following size (replacing my 2002 16"):

17x7.0 +48 front with 215/45 R 17
17x8.0 +50 back with 225/45 R 17

I also think that a 225 in the back is fine - I hope to avaid understear with this configuration.

The offset of the "stockconfiguration" of the 2004 S2K is 65/65 (at least in Europe). But I think most of aftermarket wheels have a smaller offset?!

Thanks for your feedback,
Cosimino

+48mm offset on the fronts would only be a few mm shy of OEM so not a big deal. +50mm offset on the rears is about 15mm shy of OEM, so they'll stick out about 5/8" more than OEM.
An S2000 already has a higher tendency to oversteer at the limit. Putting on 225's on the rear will make this situation worse considering that OEM is 245. I'm not sure why you want to avoid understeer since this is not a considition that S2000 owners are worried about normally. Slight understeer is usually desireable for a domestic car.
