Replacements for Discontinued Bridgestone Tires?
#11
All nice suggestions, thanks.
Even driving alone, without the constant noise from the passenger seat ("Slow down!), I rarely and never deliberately push the car to tire squeal so I don't think I need more grip. Maybe I don't drive as fast as she thinks.
And I should really be looking at tires that handle rain better than my current tires which have hydroplaned on me a couple of times. 4th point on contact held on tight to the seat.
Reunion of sorts coming up in September. 600 miles/10 hours. Always kool to show up with the S2000. Don't want tire issues enroute.

There is also the Continental Extreme Contact Force, which is supposed to be a new 200TW tire designed for endurance use. The main selling points being extended treadwear/life and a focus on wet grip.

Yep, that's what it looks like right now. Actually I am (was) considering 225/255 this time -- for no scientific reason other than perhaps a bit more turn in. I experimented with "CR" spec size last time (2016) and all seems well. And I can't deny the wider rear tires look good from behind the car. I'm the first one to note "brand loyalty" is BS but for some reason I've stuck with Bridgestone and irrationally, no doubt, shun Michelin.
Measured tire tread earlier today and it's still fine so some of this is academic for at least the summer. Will all come to a head if I have to replace a tire from damage.

Was really trying to determine what replaced the Bridgestone RE71R and SO4 tires but, as feared this has turned into mostly an "other than Bridgestone" tire thread. Not (currently) considering 3d tier (Ultra) tires which, of course, excludes a very large number of tires. Averaging about 3000-4000miles/year means tread wear isn't a real concern. Gonna have to give this a few more months and see what's available.
