Default Remove material from wheel hub surface?

not even sure if its possible

im just bored lookin at pictures and thinking

would it be possible to mill some material off the hub mounting surface to change the offset of the wheel

like i want to run 17x9 +35 ce28's

but that wheel from volk doesnt concave and doesnt really have a lip

what if i were to buy a 17x9 +15 and have 20mm taken off the hub surface would that make the wheel a +35 offset ? or am i retarded?

you would have a 17x9 +35 with the concave center and nice lip of a +15 wheel

thanks for any insight

Great question. I was thinking of having 5mm's shaved from the hub face on the 17x9 RPF1's I just bought. But you have to consider several factors including caliper clearances, loads etc. I suppose 3-5mm would be OK as long as you have the caliper clearance but I would'nt remove any more than that.

Keep in mind I'm not an engineer nor claim to know if this is safe but I think it's a great question for those looking to customize the look and stance of their car.

Looking forward to hearing from those in the know.

but removing material will bring the wheel in closer to the car? making the offset higher

to get -5 from a + 15 you would add a 20mm spacer

My bad. You are correct. I had a bit to much wine when I replied. I removed my post so as not to confuse.

It is never a good idea to remove material from a wheel because you are weakening the wheels.
