9000: the Desmond setup is pretty close to stock, w/ the rear being 0.5" narrower. But the tire will fit no problem on an 8" wheel.
I like the new XSA 01T, but if you're going to go the custom route, it's more worth it to get sizes and offsets that allow you to go much wider (17x10 or 18x10). Do you want to stick w/ stock sized wheels for the sole reason of running stock sized tires?
Have you looked at Volk CE/LE28Ns and TE37s, or the Weds SA90 (forged) from TireRack?...those are available in 17x7.5F and 17x8.5 or 17x9 rear (depending on wheel)...also quite close to OEM and you can run OEM tire sizes (tho, I'd personally like to increase width if given the opportunity).

Well to be quite frank, i'm upgrading the wheels for mainly cosmetic reasons. Weight savings would be a great by product, but not the sole purpose.

You see, I don't want to mess with a good thing. The handling on this care is near perfect. Probably the most neutral of any car I have ever driven. Changing wheel width ratios and offsets combined with altered camber makes me fear i'm going to lose the neutrality of the S2000. My attitude towards a wheel upgrade is starting to becoming the same towards a suspension upgrade (yes its perfect but I want a lower ride height), i'm acquiring a suspension system that was developed specifically for the AP2. Likewise, I think I should look into the CE28N/TE37 models or do complete custom from WORK.

As far as the stock tires go I am not crazy about them (noisy, OK dry grip). However, I only have 900 miles on them so I might as well run them through their lifespan and then upgrade to the S03 or Pilot Sports. Even after the upgrade, I would still run near stock widths.

Yeah the 17x9.0 Rear doesn't fit the car correctly by looking at those pictures.
