Default Redundant, I know...just a quick ?

Ok, getting some OEM ap2 wheels for my ap1. Im lowered on Espelir's (1" front drop 1.25" rear drop) and am wanting to go 225/45/17 and 255/40/17. Should I go this route or go down to a 215 in front?

Thanks,
Matt

You might have to run the UK alignment/ camber for clearance front and rear.

Option A) 215/45/17 and 255/40/17 Azenis RT615 from Discount Tire shipped to me for 650.11. I then would have to pay 80-100.00 for mounting and balancing so total is 730.00ish.

Option B) Sumitomo HTR ZIII in 225/45/17 and 255/40/17 shipped to me for 490.00 plus 80-100 for mounting and balancing.

Option B will undoubtedly be cheaper, but I would really enjoy me some Azenis. However, Im just not sure if I want max performance and shorter life or longer life and good performance. Money talks, and its telling me to go with B. What are your thoughts on the sizing issue?

Thanks,
Matt

Ok, option C)

215/45/17
255/40/17 Azenis RT615
for:
482.51 shipped.

Am I ok running a 215 in the front? the 225's are 3-5 weeks out.

I agree the 215 would work, according to the spec. sheet there is a small difference size wise in the 215 vs. 225. My only concern, and it's purely aesthetic, the 215 overall size is 23.8" and the 255 is 25".

If your considering plan C, you probably better order soon, sounds like the Dunlops are flying out of the Tirerack.

There is only .4" diameter difference, a 215/45 (OEM AP2 stock size) is 24.6". You are slightly increasing the width and diameter in the rear with a 255/40 compared to stock 245/40 but it's nothing to worry about. 215, 255 will work fine if that's all that is available.

I think Im going to go with the Sumitomo's as treadwear and overall wet and dry performance is slightly more important to me than a street-legal race tire per se. Im going to hunt down some cheap ap1 wheels and throw some r-comps or azenis on them.
