Read! Can You Fit a BBK Under BBS LMs?
Hi,
I have heard over the years that if you want a BBK, you can't run BBS LM wheels. After hearing this, I was a bit discouraged but figured that I would attempt to find out the reasons as to why the BBS LMs weren't BBK friendly, so last week I finally made the attempt.
My BBS LMs are 17x8 +45mm offset Front, 17x9 +42 offset Rear. I figured that in order to clear a BBK, you need approximately 2.25" between the face of your rotors and the spokes of your wheels. When I measured the distance between my spokes and rotor, I was at just over two inches which was great! I figured that just to be safe however, I would order a 10mm Project Kics spacer and bore it out to 70.7mm (S2000 Front Center Bore).
As many of you probably already know, the Project Kics wheel spacers have wheel studs already installed and holes for your existing wheel studs that are secured with counter sunk nuts. After installing the spacer onto the hub and then attempting to mount the BBS LM, I discovered that the factory wheel studs were hitting the inside of the wheel. Generally wheels have additional spacing in between the lug holes, unfortunately the BBS LMs are very limited in this department. After taking a number of measurements, I figured that I needed to cut my OEM wheel studs 1/4" to properly affix the wheel onto the vehicle (Please keep in mind that this does not have any effect on the safety of the wheel as there are plenty of threads for the supplied countersunk screws provided by Project Kics). Once the existing wheel studs were trimmed, I was able to correctly mount the wheels over the caliper. Now that I have mounted the wheels, as expected, I have plenty of caliper clearance (Nearly a centimeter!) and I know that the BBS LMs can easily accommodate a BBK. I believe that only a 5mm spacer is necessary to perform this task.
IN SHORT, the BBS LMs 17x8+45 can clear Spoon calipers with a 10mm spacer and I am nearly 100% positive that they will clear with a 5mm spacer as well which means no extended studs!
Thanks for reading!

Looks PIMP!
The only note I would like to make is that even with 5MM spacers you WILL need extended studs. With a 5mm spacers you just don't get enough turns on the lugs.
I had 5MM spacers on and barely got 2+ turns on the lugs, then I had to go through the very painful process of installing the extended studs

I doubt that there are any 5mm wheel spacers with studs already provided... That sucks.
My 5mm spacers came with extended studs.. but i didn't use them.. and i got more than 2 turns on my lugs.... I'd run them to be safe though..
