Default RE070 vs RE050

looking to get new rear tires for the new year since they been gone since 10000 miles and now at 12000.. anyways i was gonna go with the same tires that are on there but now the CR is out and uses RE070 255/40R17

this car will only be driven on the weekend and mostly dry street..
anyone have pros and cons of these two tires?? go with RE050 at 245/40R17 or jump up to RE070 at 255/40R17

Bridgestone Potenza RE050 Tires (front/rear) P215/45 R17 87W / P245/40 R17 91W

VS

Bridgestone Potenza RE070 Tires (front/rear) 215/45 R17 87W / 255/40 R17 94W

Get the RE-01R's instead. Plus, I don't think the RE070s come in 215 size

070 > RE01.... Better stability and overall grip. RE01 seem to be a little easier to predict tho. You can't compare the 050 to 070. 070 IMO are in a class of there own!

Really? This sort of flies in the face of everything else I've heard. In fact, it also seems to contradict Bridgestone's own site, plus tire rack.

We are talking about the 070 on the new CR right? The CR isn't 2 sec faster buy just suspension upgrades alone. Yes on Tire rack the 070 everyone reviews are on the EVO's and STi's. I think that voids the warrant on how it performs on the S. There is something about the compound that's on the CR that feels completely different than the compound available now. You can't even get the CR sizes yet! ( at least we can't get them here ) I'm no pro but even BMI did the same test on a civic type R and found the same conclusion. Hmmmm IDK I think there is something they are not telling us about the 070 on the Civic type R and the CR.

I admit, this is possible. Still, the 2 sec comparison is pointless - I'm comparing the 070 to the 01R, not the 050. Anyways, Brigestone's site claims the 01R is their top tire, Tirerack confirms, and frankly I'm not inclined to believe Honda put as uncompromising of a tire as the 01R on a factory vehicle (although Porsche does run Pilot Sport Cups on their GT3). Anyways, time will tell, but I find it very unlikely that the OEM Evo or Sti tire would be the most uncompromising out there.

To the OP..... Why not try out the 070's altho you better check to see if you can even get them.

I'm pretty sure you will notice some differences but it all comes down to what feel you like.

I want to try them also when availible, My RE01R are starting to fade. Hope they aren't too much more than the RE01R's. I think I'm gonna change my setup this year coming year to nonstagger, can't wait to see how 255 all the way aroound work!
