You are correct sir, but I doubt that is what we are seeing given the comments. 140 vs 280 is going to be discernable difference in wear right there.

The OEM RE050 tires have the same 140 treadwear rating as *most* of the RE050A Pole Positions. It was pointed out that *some* sizes of the non-OEM RE050A Pole Position (including stock rear size) have a 280 rating.

I figure it's gotta be a mistake, though. Why would a few selected sizes of the same model tire have sufficiently different compound and/or construction to have TWICE the treadwear rating?

Thats what caught my eye.. I was hoping a tire guru would chime in.

On the OEM RE050 MZ I would get 4.5k miles out of rears before they reached 3mm depth when I change them. Just road driving, perfect wear pattern, would be changing every 3-4 months. Sent them back to Bridgestone UK, they said tyres checked out fine.

After three sets I swapped to Dunlop SP Sportmaxx or Goodyear F1 GSD-3 for about 8.5k miles out of a set of rears.

Change brand or driving style (less fun) if not happy would be my view.

This has me worried. My first two sets of RE050 rears lasted 17K-20K miles. I hope my RE050A Pole Positions last as long or longer.

I think in my case, it's the .25' toe in on each side that did it. I don't want to revert to more conservative settings until after we go to the track in May though!

I'm reviving this tread. Since this threads start, I upgraded my OEM 245 RE050, to the 255/40/17 Pole Position's in the rear.
I got about 15k out of the OEM RE050. I only got about 10k out of the 255 PP's.

I did notice something a little unusual though. The 255 Pole Postions were worn more in the center of the tire than the inside and outside. I know this can be caused by higher than optimal tire pressures, but I check my tire pressures almost weekly, and always kept them at 32-33psi. So I don't quite understand why they wore that way.

If the center had as much life left as the inside and outside I could have gotten maybe 5-8k more out of the tire life.

Just thought I would post my review and comments on this tire.

Hmmm, food for thought. I generally run my tires a little harder than spec at 34-35 PSI. Maybe I should back off to 32.
