Are the stock RE050s supposed to last around 12k-15k as well (rears)? Because the Pole Positions have a much better treadwear rating in the survey, but maybe consumers are just wrong?

Thats esentially what my post said... Although neither are related, as Globallyoff, had the 255/40/17's on his Volk RE30's, not the OEM 245/40/17.

maybe you guys should use the OEM 050! My 05 S2 has 34k mile and I'm still running my OEM front and back.

Interesting, the tire rack, spec sheet for the RE050A PP, show 140 treadwear, for the 255/40/17, and 280 for the 245/40/17 (OEM size).
There is the issue...they are using a different compound.

I have about 10K on the original wheels and tires. In 2K, the rears will be toast. Those wheels and tires have had 2 track weekends on them.

Yup, that's why I don't know why ppl are having so little mileage out of this tire. Granted, I don't AutoX and track my car, but I'm not easy on the tires either.

If the wear is even, by default its not the alignment. Just burning them up.
A lot of rear toe with a fair amount of rear camber could result in accelerated but even wear.

I'd reduce rear toe to more like 1/8" - 3/16" total (.3 - .4 degrees). 1/4" is a bit much especially for the AP2.
