[QUOTE=xviper,Aug 18 2006, 02:19 PM] If there are no directional arrows on the sidewall, then it doesn't matter which way they spin.

well i can't really choose which direction looks prettier , since if I choose one dirction for one tire then the other tire will be in the exact opposite direction.

I have called jim@tirerack but he's outa town
Make them mirror image from side to side.

it is impossible to make them into mirror images from side to side with the tires they sent me.

assuming both tires have patterns that look like:

{^|~]
{=|O]

and { is the outside wall.

haveing the outsie walls on the outside rear and left tires result in a pattern resembling:

L:
{#|~]
{=|O]

R:

[O|=}
[~|#}

where do i get my certificate for computer illustration?

There is a difference between directional and a-symmetrical.

Directional tires may rotate only in one direction
Ususally there is an arrow on the side wall.
That is why you may move the S-02's tire from left wheel to right wheel to cancel out camber wear.
They still rotate in the same direction but outside became inside.

A-symmetrical tires need to have one side of the tire outwards.
Ususlly there are markings to determine the outside of the tire on the sidewall.
If you then move tires left to right you also have to change inside outside and it starts to rotate in the opposite direction .
Not recommended on used tires I believe.

Only if you have a directional AND a-symetrical tires you need different tires for left-right.
I've never seen them for the public.
Maybe they exist for racing?

I've just checked the Bridgestone website and to me it looks that the RE050 is a normal tire, not directional and not a-symmetrical and the RE050A is a-symmetrical.

Are you sure you have 2 of the same tires?

In case you have 2 x RE050's => no problem, put then on any way you like.
2 x RE050A's => make sure they both have the markings on the outside.
If you have a mix => problem.

What tires do you have on the front?

I was out on Friday, sorry. The tires are not directional so as long as they are mounted correctly you can put them on either side. They may not look right on one side or the other but they will function correctly.

tks for the reply everyone.

as long as they aren't directional then I'm ok.

I do agree that one side will look odd.

edit: i ordered re050As for all 4 corners. the rears arrived first.
