Default RE050 question

I am on my second set of RE050s on my AP2 and have 15,000miles on this set. The rears are getting worn, but I have not hit the wear bars yet. This set seems to be really falling off as they wear. They have almost developed a "greasy" feel at the rear. Is this typical of this tire? I am going to need a new set of tires in the near future and was wondering if there is another brand of tire that you know of that has more consistant performance throught the tread life. My first set did not exhibit such a dramatic differece as they got worn, btw.

What are your alignment specs?

I am running the US specs. I have the car aligned every 10K miles. My car currently has 32000 on it.

Most high performance tires will deteriorate in performance as you put in more miles. I'm surprised you got 15k miles outta them. I only get 8-10k miles in my S02s.

I commute on the freeway 120 miles a day, so the vast majority of the milage on these is basically rolling miles.

I'm on my second set of RE 050's and can't say that I have experienced significant performance drop offs when they wear. I'm wondering if you aren't realizing some oil buildup on the roads where you live. If it doesn't rain much, or hasn't for an extended period of time, this may be the problem more than your tire wear. See if you notice an improvement after a heavy downpour, but not during one obviously.

I experienced pretty much the same thing. After reaching the indicators making a right turn on wet pavement was almost scary (I had the rear end kick lose with out much throttle at all, multiple times). I also had a lot more oversteer than when they were new.

For the price of those tires I would never buy a second set.

I think they are discontinued now or soon to be.

I think that the oil buildup may be a contributing factor, but the fact that this didnt seem to happen with my first set is what i find a bit perplexing. mabye this was a bum set? anyway, I think that Advans are going to be my next tire.

Thanks for the input.
