We all have different driving styles and needs. Maybe some people find understeer to be more manageable. Maybe some people autocross and find would rather run a 215 than run a stiffer front sway, etc..

1010tires.com lists them for sale... I'm not too sure if they really stock them or if their web site is even accurate.

Anybody have any sort of experience ordering from these people before?

I will try and give them a call tomorrow and find out if they really cary the tire though...

Jim
Just got off the phone with 1010 tires, and they are avalible, but on back order. And very pricey. about $900.00 a set. But now we do have a correct size for the
"17 wheel.

The guy told me basically the same thing. I just have reservations about them ever having the tire. I dont think they have ever stocked the tire to be "back ordered" on them.

The only thing that keeps my hopes up is that Jim (tirerack) did mention the arrival of the 255/40/17 soon.

Maybe Jim can shed some light on the situation. I think that if anyone REALLY knows if these are going to be available domestically ever, it's him...

Okay... I just called Tirerack. Jim was out of the office but I did speak to a guy named "Alex". Very helpful guy btw. He said that there is a part number in the system and that the tire will definitely be available domestically but he did not have a release date!

He gave me a guestimate of July but did not confirm and did not know an actual release date.

I want to wait for the OEM sizes too. Can you give us a review of your new tires so far?
I've got about 9,000 miles on my RE-01R's and I must say they are hands down the best high performance tire I've ever had!(I've had Pirelli P-Zero's,Toyo Proxes, and Falkens and even the older version Potenza RE01's previouslly on my Honda Prelude)
Between the RE-01R's and the oem S2000 Potenzas you will feel almost no difference under regular street driving conditions which is not a bad thing considering how great the oem Potenzas are.
These tires have a split personality.Under normal driving conditions you will feel no loss of traction even when they're running cold,no road noise, and no ride discomfort.I was especially surprised that the RE-01's had no loss of traction feeling even under heavy rain highway driving with deep puddles!
Under high speed cornering is where these tires really shine!
They grip the the ground like glue under high acceleration and are dream to ride on in open twisty roads where you can really push the car hard.
Another benifit often overlooked is the Unit-T2 Technology in these tires.
Other brand high performance tires can feel amazing when they're brand new and then slowly start to lose performance as the tire degrades from wear.
My RE-01R's feel just as good now 9,000 miles later as the first week I threw them on!
Obviouslly these tires don't have the greatest treadwear rating in the world but the type of guy who buys this tires isn't concerned with that any will gladly sacrafice longevity for ultra performance
To best describe the RE-01R's I would say they are the highest performing D.O.T. approved street tire on the market today!

I don't see what there's not to like about this tire then, assuming that when Tirerack finally gets them the cost is not too high.

I am sponsored by bridgestone and I recently talked to them about this tire. I did get a set from them for my sponsorship and went 225/45-17 and 245/40-17. I didn't have any problems. I have since found a local shop that can get me 255/40-17 at a very reasonable priceand am now running 255/40-17 in the rear. These are imported straight from Japan though. Just so you guys know, 215 and 255 are not going to be coming anytime soon.
