Thumbs up RE-50 vs RE-01R

I'm in need of new rubber and had always planned on getting a new set of RE-50's because I really really like these tires. I like the way they feel, the grip level, the wet traction, the tread life and just their all around behavior.

Now I see that the RE-01Rs have been out for a few months (I think) and it makes me re-examine what should have been a very simple decision.

If anyone here has gone from the AP2 OEMs to the RE-01Rs, I'd really like to hear your feedback (Pros, Cons if any...) and comparisons.

From what I've read... I'm going to go with the RE-01R's.

I think they're fairly similar in price but I've heard that the grip level is noticeably better.

Yep... like I said... RE-01R's.

And now that they have 255, that just makes it more appealing because when they first came out, they wouldn't come any bigger than 245.

I like this so much better!!!!

225/255 combo is supposedly amazing.

Note that there are five (count 'em, FIVE) different "RE050" variants. OEM is not the highest-rated. If wet traction is a concern, I'd get RE050A Pole Positions over the RE01R's. Otherwise, RE01R is the tire to have if you want max grip real street tires.

OEM. I wouldn't go wider in back as someone was suggesting above. If anything I like it better when the rear has a bit less grip. With OEM sizing and fresh tires the car wants to understeer just a bit to much.

I'm loving how my car feels right now, slow, gradual, predictable oversteer. The problem though is that my cornering limits are rather low right now cause my rears are almost bald and my fronts are quite worn too.
