Default RE-11 on AP1 wheels

I've been searching and lurking for the past week in regards to this. Recently I put star spec Z1's on my 2002 S2K in OEM size (sizing the same as the S-02s and on the door jam of the passenger side). I do notice the rears (Star Specs) look narrower/not as square compared to the S-02s i had on before and also the fronts look a little beefier. I have RE-11s on order as well with the same OEM size for the fronts but rears @ 245/45/16. The sticky in this forum mentions that 245/45/16s were the more accurate size but that sticky is old and i dont think the RE-11s came in that size at the time.

So my question is since the RE-11s are here now in that size and perform pretty close to the Star specs, do i swap my star specs(OEM size) for the RE-11s which might be the perfect aftermarket setup for stock AP1 wheels??? Maybe the RE-11s in the 245/45/16 were made with the S2K in mind?

Thanks!

I read this probably 5 times trying to make sense of it, but had little luck.

You recently put Star Specs on your Ap1. Despite recently buying new tires, you bought RE-11s as well (why?). Now you want to know if you should swap out your new (?) Star Specs for RE-11s?

It would have been smarter just to buy the right tires the first time. That said, I'd be incline to just use what you have and not worry about the RE-11s. Both of these tires perform better than the S-02s that originally came on the car.

the bottom line:

on AP1 OEM wheels R:225/50-16 F:205/55-16 (Star Spec Z1)

Or

R:245/45-16 F: 205/55-16 (RE-11)

you should be fine with the star specs, many people have that setup. Thats crazy, I never knew the re11 came in a 245/45/16 size. It must be new

The RE-11 did just come out with the 245/45R16 size. Both the Star Spec and the RE-11 are excellent handling tires on the car. You will not be making a bad choice either way. If I had my choice the RE-11 would be the tire but the Star Spec is a lot cheaper.
If I can help let me know.

damn, now im kinda wondering if I should go with a 225/50/16 in the front and the 245 in the rear with my ap1's. Im wondering if the front will look too bulgy sidewall wise since its only a 6.5inch wide wheel. Does the sidewall in that size become more flexy as well??

Since extreme performance tires run a little wider than regular max performance tires, does anyone know if the 245/45/16 re11 will actually measure out to be a 255 etc.? I should be able to maintain the stockish characteristics since the factory stagger is maintained correct? With the only difference being a wider contact patch?

the S0-2 225/50/16 are closer to a 245/45/16 then another brand 225/50/16

I thinking I will be doing the same thing with mine.

225/50-16 does look more bulgy on the stock front wheels than 245/45-16 looks on the backs. Also, this combination has the rears slightly [edit] *shorter* than the fronts. The overall effect is that it makes the front tires look BIGGER than the rears.

Honestly, for a street setup, I'd probably just go with factory OEM sizes.
Lookswise, 205/50-16 fronts look better with 245/45-16 rears (slight "smaller fronts/bigger rears" look).
