My 2c:
I was running the OEM 17" wheels with RE050 215/245 on my AP1. I was not much impressed with the performance - the back seemed to slide around more than with 16" S02s, but it did give away more gently.
I put the 205/225 01Rs back on the original 16" for my car and WOW!. Way better than the wider RE050s. I know this is not the pole position tire, but night and day anyway. I actually did an AutoX on the 01Rs and did not miss my Khumo R compound tires.
Wet grip on the 01Rs seem pretty good to me, and it is rated quite well by Tire Rack, so I am not sure about all this "not good in the wet" talk I have seen here.
And best of all, very comfortable tires on a stock suspension compared to the 17" RE050s - most likely due to the taller tire wall aspect of the 16" compared to the 17"s. But on all counts, 01R's will not disappoint you as a daily driver / occasional track tire. Why compromise dry grip?

Sorry to bring up this old thread. I already asked this in the beginning of the thread, but I didn't get a definite answer. I was wondering if its bad to run RE050's in the front and RE-01's in the rear? My rears are almost bold and I need to get new tires asap.
