i slapped on some re050 pp's on for a year now, they hold up nice in Chicago's weather. i definitely see improvement in every way, from hot summers to cold rainy days. i did get them wider though (225/255) on rpf1's. i was thinking about the re01 r's, but they didnt have sizes to fit my 9" wheels in back, and i've heard nothing but positive feedback from them. just remember re01r's are a little softer so they'll wear down quicker

The RE-01R is a better handling tire. It is as close to an R compound tire as you are going to get for the street. The RE-050A Pole Position would be a better option thatn the OE tire if you are looking for improved wet traction and longevity. The RE050 does have a 100.00 mail in rebate on a set of four at this time.
If I can help let me know.

I guess when my OEM wears out, I'm going to replace it with either the RE-01R or the RE050A Pole Positions.

The strategy is if you wear them all out, go for 01Rs, and if you wear just the rears, go for the 050a. This tire is better matched to the fronts, and just gives more understeer.

How would you do that though? Doesn't the fronts last twice as long as the rears?!

Yes they do, depending on how you drive, average is about 16k for the rears.
When i put my RE-O1Rs on i was on my 2nd set of RE-050s. My fronts were
still original when i bought the car. 25k on it.

My rear oem lasted 25k miles. RE-01R is BETTER than stock as far as dry traction is concern. It also seem to be quieter and having the tires sidewall and tread pattern looking nice/aggressive is a plus. I don't drive in the wet so I have no input on this, but there a reason why it's called Summer tire and not winter tire.

[QUOTE=ZDan,Apr 12 2008, 08:39 PM]Personally, if I were going for lap times or AutoX times on my street tires, I'd go with the RE01R.
