RS3 = Scary in the wet.... Need a little extra psi or they flex..

Z1 = Best tire I've ever owned and somehow they last longer than expected.

RT-615 = Nice tire in the dry, same class as rs3 in the wet... I'd pick rs3 over these

Kumho XS = Very comparable to the RS3.. I'd pick whatever is cheaper..

Never had a chance to try any nitto tires... I don't see how much better the re01 or re11's can be for the addition cash..

I definitely wouldn't call the RS3 scary in the wet except when they are nearly bald... they hydro plane easier than some other tires when you hit standing water, but nothing unpredictable. On damp pavement they grip just fine. Objective tests (by GRM and some serious autox guys) have shown the RS3 and Z1 to be significantly faster than the RT-615 or Kumho XS, also These tests have shown the RS3 to be the fastest 140+ TW tire in warm dry conditions, with the Z1 being one of the fastest in the wet and in cooler temperatures. (just adding some more of my observations and some summaries of test results)

For me The RS-3 because I want the best tire for dry/heat. In that department That RS-3 is better than the Z1. But for someone that DD the S2k the Z1 should be better. Agree on the DW I have them in my DD civic. They don't look so aggressive but the grip is better than I expected and in the wet it is amazing.

I just bought the Star Specs because I drive my car on the street more than I track it. I'm excited, this is my first set of legit tires... I'll be coming off of old, used Sumitomo HTR Z III's. Blah

I went to the Z1 from those same HTRs. You will be blown away. They really stick in the corners...after owning my car 6 years, wow, what a difference those tires make.

I have the RS3's on my S2000 and the Falken 615 on my STI. WIth that said, DO NOT BUY THE FALKENS, they are extremely noisy, where as the RS3's are virtually silent. The 615's sound like a spaceship is hovering along with you or something, lol.

bumping this...my star specs are worn out after only 5600 miles. Granted the price went up both tires, and they are within $70 of each other...but my curiosity leads me to the rs3s. Any had both that would be willing to give their impressions?
