Default quick question?

Is there a difference between normal Bridgestone Potenza S02's and Honda OEM S02's? I plan on changin my tires soon and after much contemplation have decided to stick with the SO2 instead of switching to the SO3.

Word on the street is the OEM version rears have a wider treadwidth than the plain S02's. I seem to recall 0.5" more width on our OEM's! That means the plain S02's in the rear could cause bad oversteer at the limits.

The original equipment S02 is different than the regular S02. The tire that came on the car was tuned specifically for the S2000 with a wider tire for the rear of the car. If you are looking for the best performance tire for the car in dry handling I would stay with the OE tire.
If you are looking for better wet traction or longer wear then you can look at some of the other tires.
If I can help let me know.
Thank you

There is in fact a big difference. Be sure to get OEM S02. Visit this page and you will see the difference in actual tire dimensions between the different versions. The OEM front and rear tires are labeled "205/55WR16 89W SL" and "225/50WR16 92W SL". The front OEM treadwidth is a bit narrower and the rear wider than the non-OEMs. OEM sectionwidths front and rear are wider.

next question: Do local tire shops carry OEM tires or do they have to be ordered?

Chances are they will not have the OEM tires. But, your local Honda dealership might.

That explains it. the rear of the car is looser than I remember it since I replaced the SO-2's. I should have asked you guys. I bet the Tirerack can get you some OEM's. That's where I got my SO-2's from.

We have the OE tires in stock at 145.00 front and 156.00 rear. I would doubt if a local tire store would carry these tires.
If I can help let me know.
Thank you

If I ordered tires from Tirerack, where would I get them put on? any local tire shop for a small fee i'm assuming? I'll let you know sometime next month. I'm trying to get the local club to set up an autocross so I can completely burn these tires out.
