Default Question on tire options

OK. I know I need to go wider, but listen to this first. According to bridgestone, a 225/50/16 G Force KD on a 7 in rim has a contact patch of 8.9 inches, so on our rear 7.5 in rim, it would be 8.7 inches. (lose .2 in for every .5 in increase in width)

I can get htese in 225/50 and 205.55. Would anyone reccommend these or is anyone using these already? Any opinions?

Thanks,
John

I think you mean BF Goodrich....and those tires are awesome, but don't last for anything....

yeah...sorry!

I know they have a short tread life, but im looking at options other than OEM. The OEM's are treadwear of 140, the KD's are 200....so maybe a little more life!

The g-Force T/A KDW2 has a wear rating of 300. Have you considered these? I'm taking a serious look at these in 17's for the spring.

If you're talking about the NT...New Tread design, they are pretty loud. I put them on my Fiancee's Scion and they are annoying.

John

I've had the BFG KD's in the OEM sizes for the past 6 months. Like you, rain is not a big issue with me because I only take the car out in nice weather. I have not done any autox-ing, so I can't give any data in that arena. I do like to drive on mountain roads at about 7/10th's, and I don't feel like I've given up any level of performance compared to the S02's. I've put a few thousand miles on the tires, and the wear is good. I got about 11k miles on the rear S02's, and right now, I'm confident that I'll get at least that on the KD's.

Hope this helps. If you get the KD's, let me know what you think of them.

Your narrower wheel changes the section witdth not the contact patch.
