Question for people with RE11s
I plan on getting RE11s next summer. My only concern is the road noise they might have after a few thousand miles. I know that this is very common with any soft/high performance tire. A good friend has these equipped on his E46 M3 and said he's actually surprised with how quiet they are, even after a few thousand miles.
I loved my old Star Specs, and now my current XSs... It would be a huge plus if the RE11s were actually quieter after some wear. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Road noise is always going to be an issue with sticky summer tires. I've had, Mx's, XS's, Star Specs, RE01R's and after a few thousand miles there's road noise.
IMO, the star specs are the best tire for the money and the performance is as good as RE01R's, S02's, etc.

tirerack's test compares the tire noise between re11, star spec, xs, and ad08.
"All four tires in this test did produce noticeable tread pattern noise volume and none would be confused for the quiet ride of a touring tire. But the Potenza RE-11 and ADVAN Neova AD08 both did a good job hiding their tread noise levels by generating a broad, white noise that often disappeared into the background of surrounding traffic and wind noise as speeds increased. The Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec and Ecsta XS tires both produced several distinct tones or growls at certain speeds making their tread noise more apparent than the others."

Noise aside, has anyone actually put the RE11's on an AP2 V3? My 08 base model has about 19,000 miles on the factory RE050's. The backs are showing the wear bars and the fronts still have some life left. I'm interested in the RE11's because they were developed from a F1 rain tire. I'd like more wet performance / safety margin. The RE050's have been very good and I would have no qualms about just replacing the rear set of RE050's on the car. But for about the same price per tire, if the RE11's are a bit better in the wet and just as good on dry pavement, I'd probably replace the whole set with RE11's.

I enjoy the tires for the traction, however road noise was significantly more noticeable compared to the RE050. Quiet at first but after maybe 4 thousand miles, the noise was definitely there. Besides the noise if I had the money to change tires often, these would definitely be my tire of choice.
