Default Question for Jim

Hi Jim,
I'm purchasing a set of Continental ExtremeContact DWS for my ap1 very soon. I've read about the rear tire size needing to be a 245/45/16 if not running factory tires, but i've been running 225's with non oem brands for years and never noticed the difference. But if figured i'd try it this time around, is this tire availible in 245/45/16? Thanks in advance, -Brian

The "need" for 245s was tremendously overstated IMO.

These days, if you want the best street tires, they're only going to be in stock AP1 sizes (225/50-16 rear), which is totally fine.

Yeah I agree. I just can't see that .5in really being noticable. Looking on tirerack for 245/45/16 only 9 options came up and most of them being competition. But I figured if the tire is availible i'd try it since i'm replacing all my tires anyway. I went ahead and got stock sizes already. A big for tirerack though, 2 hours after the purchase they had been shipped.

I had a set of 4 of them on my Jetta. i recomend you find something else. A google scearch will show weak sidewalls and blow outs!. I had two blowouts on the interstate with the extreme contact tires on my jetta. I fiiles a complaint and Continental would do nothing. I would never buy a continental tire now much less a set of extremecontact. And sorry to say i did get them from tire rack.

The Extreme Contact DWS is not available in the 245/45R16 size. In fact of all the brands we carry only the Fuzion ZRI is available in the 245/45R16.
If I can help let me know.
