Question about offsets

Question about offsets
Is a 17x9 rim with a 62mm offset with a 4mm spacer the same thing as a 17x9 rim with 58mm offset? Just thinking of ideal offset for a 17x9 front rim to have the least amount of rubbing issues

can someone please explain this to me 17x9 62mm is equal to 17x8.5 ( )mm ?

It can't be equal, as it is narrower, so you have to decide whether you want the outside of the wheel to be in the same place as the 9" or the inside of the wheel (or equa-distant between the two)?

Think of it like this. You are removing half an inch from the width of the wheel. That is 12.7mm. If you stay with a 62 mm offset then your wheel will now have 6.3mm more clearance on the outside and the inside. If you want the same amount of poke or the same outer stance then you remove 6.3 mm from your offset and change to a +56 as 1nate7 mentioned. This will give you an additional 12.3mm clearance on the inside.
