Q for Jim: RE050A PP
BS Potenza RE050A Pole Position
225/ 45 front 255/ 40 Reear on OE Rims?
Do these sizes work on OE rims?
or are these tires available in OE size?
My priority will be tread life since I will be driving long distances these next to years.
Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

Hmmm, I'm looking at these tires too but those 225/45 fronts have WAY wider tread (1.8" wider than the OEM 050). I've already got 255/40 in an S03 on the rear which are almost exactly the same size as the 255/40 in the 050A PP, so those should be fine. I'm thinking the 205/50 in the 050A PP may be a better fit for the front actually. The overall tire height is only .3" higher than the OEM's so the sidewalls should be almost the same, but the tread in only an inch wider. They'd keep a closer match to the OEM stagger that way... Jim?

Mike,
Thanks for the feedback. I did figure I could adjust tire pressures a bit from front to back to compensate a little too. So the 225/45 doesn't look too "balloony" on the stock 7" front rims then?

I don't think it looks at all 'balloony' on the stock AP2 rims, though if I keep running these tires I may get a set of Volks in a 7.5"F/9"R fitment since those are the 'official measured rim widths' from Bridgestone.
The 225 and 255 both show a very slight bulge over stock, but 5mm per side of section width is pretty hard to notice. They do have the exact same sidewall height and O.D. (25.0 in)
The steering feels slightly heavier to me, but having almost 2" of extra tread up front I should have expected it. (though I doubt most people would notice, I'm at the point with this car that I notice a 2-3lb tire pressure difference)
I really do like these tires, though I may try the RE01's next time just to see how they are.
Cheers,
Mike

Thanks a lot Mike. Very good feedback. Just what I was looking for. Even some stuff I was wondering about but hadn't asked yet (steering feel) . So since the steering feels pretty similar, I'm guessing the turn in is mostly unaffected as well?

I haven't done any track time yet, on my around town driving turn in feels much the same, maybe a little more solid, I'm positive I'll be able to come in a bit hotter, but as I said I was understeering on the stockies. Your actual mileage may vary.
I think the sidewalls are equally stiff if not stiffer than the stock 050's so I don't think turn in will feel any softer maybe just a bit heavier on the effort side. Hopefully I'll have a chance this or next weekend to get a bit frisky with them.
