so currently it's at $172.00 for ONE rear tire on these cars. I decided to bite the bullet today, and in my memory they were $125.00 not too long ago, and now, thats just, so insanely high. I know this is the "Tire Rack" sponsored forum so I will keep my ideas of browsing other tire sites to find these cheaper, but I'm not so sure if I can let myself spend that much on these.

Is there a season i can rely on these things to be cheaper, or ??? It just seems to me like this is an astronomical amount for stock tires for a Honda, regardless of it's rare size and questioned availability.

Are you sure about that? Tire Rack still has them. Unless they're just selling off old stock.

The s-02 is a OE part to by law they have to make the tire for 10 years after the car or spec has changed.

 

"Insanely high"...try $259 for one rear OEM RE050 on 04's & 05's. To make matters worse...the rears seem to have a shorter life span then the SO2's on my MY02.

 

So they do still make it? Cause I remember awhile back that they were, in fact, discontinued.

 

I think the reality of it is that they probably only produce the tire at certain times of the year, create stock, the price fluxuates with demand, rumors circulate it's not in production anymore, and another batch comes out. I'm just hoping someone on here as either an alternative to tire-rack, or knows if & when the price is going to drop.

 

the potenza s-02 been discontinuned ? are you thinking of the s0-2 pole positions?

Yes the S-02 has been "discountinued"

If you've noticed you can only get the tires that came as Original Equipment for the Cars (S2000, 911 etc)

The S2000 OE sized S-02s will be avail until 2013.
