Default powder coating stock wheels

Any have any experience with powder coating wheels before? I have been looking at black wheels for a couple of days now and can't find anything I would be willing to spend a couple thousand on. I honestly really like the look of the stock ones but am curious if powder coating would hold up to the elements of Seattle weather. Any one done this before or know someone that has?

Thanks!

Yes a proper coating should hold up to the elements.

in seattle, is your s2000 the daily driver 365/24/7? the winter snow/ice and the use of salt/sand may look like azz after a season or two. ask for a warranty from your powder coater and see if he'll guarantee that it'll resist the elements (you know what his answer will be)...

My local powder coated shop won't do the rims. He said because it have to bake in the oven and he not sure about the heat and strength of the rims after that. He afraid someone might sue him if the rim crack and cause an accident.

the s2k is my daily driver but I found out I can get it done for about $60 for all 4 wheels. So if it does chip/fade it won't be too much to have it redone.

I will ask them if they have done wheels before and keep you posted.

$60 for all 4?? that is a killer deal. My 5" gokart rims cost me $10 each.

I know a guy who knows a guy. I am going to do this when I can finally drive(roads are ice right now). I also want to buy wheel locks first so I can get them the same color.
