Potenza RE760 Sport vs. Dunlop Star Specs...
I do a little commuting here and there with a 400 miles trip about once a month. I have heard nothing but good things about the Star Specs being an all-out performer on the track and in driving events, but the tread wear is terrible. The RE760 Sport seems to be a decent performer with much better treadwear.
Once the weather warms up I will be doing some track days and some mountain driving. I should mention I am about 280 miles away from Deals Gap and 170 miles away from the closest track. Are the Star Specs overkill for a DD? About how much mileage should I expect to get out of each set with spirited driving?
I really want the Star Specs but I don't want to be buying tires twice a year. Are the RE760 Sports right for me?

heres something ppl never think of, driving less sticky tires to the limit can be more rewarding that having stickier tires that you cant fully use.
i have the 760's, they're decent at most and def. not trackworthy, but ill be running them daily and for tracks until i can get another set for track only. i didnt get the star specs because i had something similarly aggressive before and even though it was great, i couldnt afford to change tires that often and i felt that it would be somewhat wasted for going to work etc.

i think i can get approx. 20-24k or so. its hard to say cause sometimes tires last very well the first 30% then drop off until there is only 20% left, meaning that tire wear is not always linear.
you should also consider the dunlop dz101, which might be better cause it should have a stiffer sidewall, i think the 760 is somewhat soft. also, the dunlop is cheaper.
