Potenza RE750's
I ordered a set of RE750's (205/55 fronts & 245/45 rears) from Tirerack since my Pilot Sports are now shot. The treadwear was what caught my attention to these tires. Can I expect close to 20,000 miles for the rears with the RE750's? I was quite dissapointed when I found out the Pilot Sports only lasted around 12,000 miles and how expensive they were.

Are you asking how good are the Pilot Sports? If so, you might as well get another set of S-02s. The Pilot sports wore out just as fast as the stock tires, and had less grip. They were quite predictable though, since S-02s had the tendency to bite you in the a$$ at the mistake of the limit, and the Sports gave warning when its about to break lose. What I didn't like also is that the treadwidth of the Pilot Sports are about 8" for the rears (and thats with a 245/45/16 size) and the stock tires were 8.5" I believe, meaning they were still thin.
Oh well, since I don't drive hard everytime I take the car out, I decided to go with the RE750's as my next choice of tires. Looks pretty good on paper. I'm hoping to get near 20,000 miles on the rears since the treadwear rating is 340, vs. the S-02's rating at 140. Jim, will they?

Well I don't have the tires yet. I'll have them placed on tomorrow. I'm not expecting the grip to be anywhere as good as the S-02s. I'll let you guys know as time passes.

Those Potenza sure do have some nice numbers on the tire racks website compared to other tires. Im Interested in other people's opinion from the s2ki website that own these tires. I sure need a new set of tires for my s2000 and these would save me a little $$$$. I just dont know when I go to sell my vehicle if the buyer would rather have s0-2 on there instead.

The tread life shows 340 but if they only last 12K miles with that tread rating, then that's strange. I know different mfg's have different rating but daayuum. I figured on average that a 340 tread rating would be around 30K miles.
Jim, any shot-in-the-dark idea on how long we can expect these to last.
The #'s on the Tire Racks site are very impressive. That's why I want these. I know a guy here locally than can get them for me at $5 over cost.

I just came back from the shop that mounted my tires. So far, the tires are great. They are very smooth and definitely have a better ride than the s-02s and sports that I've used. I'm not about to push my car hard anytime soon, but I can already tell that the tires don't grip anywhere as well as the s-02s and sports. To be honest, it seems as if the steering is less responsive, but then again, the sports were 225s in the fronts, and now I'm back to 205s. If you guys want I'll comment more about these tires after a few months when the rubber is down to the better stuff.
