Default painting rims...

Forgive me if this is a repost, but I'm interesting in painting my stock wheels and I was wondering what type of paint to use. Is there a special type of primer/clearcoat for this purpose? I seem to remember a 'how to' thread, but I couldn't find it anywhere....help?

Thanks everyone.

Duplicolor makes a nice wheel paint. I've used it with great results. You just need to be sure to prep the wheels properly first, which means removing all the shine, and cleaning really well.

I used Flat black high temp engine paint on my friends Rotas, but we were not trying to make them look nice just trying to get rid of the semi gloss look.

Wiped them down really good.
Put lots of tire shine on the tires (if you have them mounted already)
spray top let dry
flip and spray bottom let dry
wipe off painted tire shine (sp) mount and drive away

looked good and never chipped (if it did just respray) , but I would only do this if it was going to be flat black. If you are going any other color or high gloss, I recommend Powder Coating them

I don't like the tire shine idea. It's a paint contaminant, and its fumes could keep paint from sticking well.

Are you sure that's a Duplicolor wheel paint job?

Umm, yeah, I did it myself for my wheels for my M3 for autocrossing. I have many more pics if you'd like to see.
