Over all largest width possible?
I am looking to put a set of four 18" rims on my 2002 S2000. The car is fully stock. I don't want to roll out my fenders at all and I don't want anything that will stick out of the wells at all. I am wondering what the widest tires are that people have been able to put on with out getting any rub. Also I am sure that with wider tires wider rims are required. To keep the tires from sticking out of the wheel wells the additional width would need to be taken into account with backspacing. Could somebody give me specifics on all the dimensions of the rims used with back spacing and tire size and brand. A good friend of mine has some 285/30R18 on the rear of his Porsche that I think look sweet and I would like to fit those on but don't know if my wells are deep enough. I know my stock are rated at a height of 24.9" and the 285's are 24.7" high so the height is almost identical. Also I have no idea how much room there is in the front wells, does anybody have much experience with that? I am looking for some serious gription for doing some of the EISCC races here in Idaho. Later I would also like to supercharge or turbo this go cart and I will defiantly need some rubber on the ground for that. Sorry if this is much of a repeat question but I usually see people just ask about specific sets and not a general "what will fit?".

I have seen some people use 285 on the car but I don't think you are going to improve your performance. You will induce understeer with this much tire on the back. To make it work you would need somewhere in the mid 70's offset in about a 18X10.
I like the 265/35R18 on the rear better with the 225/40R8 in the front.
If I can help let me know,
Thank you

Do you have any close detail pictures of a set of 265/35R18 - 225/40R18 tires on an S2000? I would like to see the clearance and general look close to the wheel well and view from the rear of the car. Thanks

the 9.5 inch rear setup in the low mid 70's offset works very well..
with the proper offset these DO NOT RUb even at a lowered ride hight...
i'm using the 265/35 rear tire setup as Jim describes and it works very well
