I've been running these in 215/255 and I need new tires. These are still on my list of possibilities because they've been good to me.

I want to go back to the 215/245 setup but for the HTR Z III's the 245 has an XL load rating. How does this affect things? For folks who have it, does it make the ride harsh?

Anyone have a profile picture of the 245/40 17 so I can see how it sits on OEM AP2 rims?

Thanks!

If you are wanting to close the gap in the stagger, have you thought about putting in 225's up front instead? Yeah, I am greedy when it comes to giving up rubber. LOL I have 225/255's of the HTR-Z III's and had no issues... but I have an autocross setup.

Unfortunately, these tires are dismounted to burn up some of my older rubber that I had laying around, and then I will put them back on... or I would have taken pics of how the 225's look on the front rims. But from what I remember, they looked happy on them.

Good luck in your quest!

I've been running HTR Z-III's for a while now, no complaints. 225/40/18 and 255/35/18. The price is right too which helps when You're only getting 7-10k out of the Rears. My fronts will probably last 25-35k but I'm already on my 2nd set of rears in 12,000 miles and they'll be due for replacement soon. It's not the tires fault, it's the drivers fault.

Alignment:

FRONT:
Camber 1.5°
Caster 6.0
Total Toe 1/16" toe-in

REAR
Camber 3.2°
Total Toe 1/8" toe-in

The car does a moderate amount of sliding and aggressive driving along with 4-500 miles of street driving every week. The tires have been more than I could ask for, I might branch out and try something new for the rears next time, just for a good comparison. Overall very happy with the tire.

got a 2nd set of sumitomo HTRZ-3 from Jim yesterday and it arrived today. thanks JIM!

got 46900 miles on the first set but before you people gasp you have to see the old vs. new pics. drove them pretty hard and we're fortunate living in socal where we don't get tons of rain until recently. also glad to see they're still made in japan...

14K 1 year later:

46.9K 2yrs and 10mos later:

Are those rears you got 46k miles on or the fronts?

Either way, that's impressive mileage.

If those are the rears how did you manage to get 46k out of them? Damn. I get 7-10k out of my rears at best. I could see the fronts going the distance though.

those are the rears not the front. the front still had block patches and tread lines compared to rears that almost looked like slicks.

again, we can get away with it a little more here in socal since it rains 2 weeks out of the year. if i were still living in ny it wouldn't be possible. also I never drag the car, or slip dump the clutch and i'm not trying to be the next drift king cause it goes against everything I was taught on geting the most out of a car. it should have been replaced in the summer but again it never rained where grip and safety became an issue.

I have no idea how you got this from the tires. Are you sure the odometer isn't set on kilometers? lol

I ran a set of these exact tires and 25k later the rears are toast. The fronts could probably go another 15k. I wasn't very hard on this set either...mostly just freeway. The car isn't in Seattle anymore so I ordered a set of Star Specs to enjoy the California weather.

saw some of your roads in seattle when i was there for the giants vs. hawks game in november and they were pretty smooth considering all the rain they get. i thought the roads in socal were worst than seattle but its still better than other cities.

did they look like mine at 25k? cause mine has looked like that since june. the actual pic was taken at 75k and the full set was changed at 75.5k. all i did was check the tire pressure twice a month and no the reading wasn't in km....
