Treadwear ratings can always very depending on the manufacturer. A 200 Treadwear tire X may not wear the same as a treadwear rating on a 200 treadwear tire Y.
i must admit when i saw the 300 treadwear for a max perfomance summer tire made me think more than twice but even if the tires last me the same amount time and miles as the RE050 but with same if not better performance it was still worth getting.

my car is not lowered and i'm going 215 and 255...

i would've love to stay with 215/245 combo but after reading the 04 correct tire sticky it made me a little wary. it did help that the CR has the same setup of 215/255...
just a note .. I had the same concern about keeping overall tire size the same when swapping to the sumis .. but i talked to Jim at tire rack and he said to go with oem sizes if i was going to be lowering the car at all .. I even told him that these were going on my LE37s and he said stick with the oem sizes .. so thats what i did lol

so far i love the tire after 30 miles on them. first thing i noticed within a mile was how quiet they are compared to the oem. i always warm up the car before heading out on the freeway and it allows me to practice out-in-outs on the business intersections we have here at work and with my limited time with the tires i can honestly say i am extremly happy with them but of course time will tell how good these tires can be.

i'll let you guys know more about the tire after i put more miles on them. i had the car aligned right after they were mounted and balanced and everything was aligned back to spec except for the front toe which they'll fix today.

my biggest question is about sidewall stifness. how is it compared to the OEM 050's?

IMHO I like the Sumi's better. I feel I can corner better with these.

No idea what the actual sidewall stiffness #'s are...

no numbers needed (wouldn't hurt) but the 050's weren't very forgiving but the stiff sidewall made response amazing.
I also had Kumho SPT's which didn't have as stiff of a sidewall but the softer sidewall was much more forgiving and probably saved my life a couple times or so.
