Options for +43 wheels with 225 tires
Ok so I've been dealing with rubbing on my front wheel/tire setup for a while now. I bought a set of wheels with less than perfect fitting fronts and have been trying to figure out the best way to set the car up.
Rear wheels are +62 with 255 tires so there is no rubbing there. Fronts are18x8 +43 wheel with 225 width tires. I get no rubbing with the stock suspension. The problem is the car looks semi-ridiculous at stock height with these wheels. For reference, I was lowered about 1" in the picture in my sig (on Konis + aftermarket springs) and was still getting some rubbing, even with rolled front fenders.
Hitting a bump while going straight was never the problem. The problem for me is under hard cornering I get enough suspension compression for the tire to rub against the (rolled) fender. This caused a very unnerving "twitch" while cornering that could potentially disrupt the entire balance of the car. I know one way of dealing with this is just getting a stiffer suspension setup, but the koni/spring setup was about as stiff as I would have wanted. Would extra camber help the situation?
Even though I'm at stock height now with no rubbing, I'd like to buy a good coilover set and drop the car back down about an inch - but only if I can solve the rubbing issues. I don't want to do any more destructive editing to the stock fenders, nor do I want a more narrow front tire. Is there any other way to get rid of the rubbing while sitting lower than stock?

I would up the camber some though that won't make a huge difference when the wheel it turned. Something like -1.5 would help a little. As for coilovers have you tried turning the dampening up on the Koni's? What springs are on it and what are the spring rates?

The setup was on my car when I bought it, so I don't know the details of the springs. Here is a picture of the coilovers I was on, though. The Konis were only adjustable for rebound, not compression, so any adjustments to the damper would not affect the front rubbing. At any rate, I don't really want to put this suspension back on my car (currently running stock). Any future suspension I get would be adjustable for both rebound and compression.

Hm yeah thouse look old. The new konis I think have adjustments. I would look at getting some coilovers. What kind of budget do you have in mind? Everyone and their mother like KW's and they would probably be the most comfortable while providing a drop. Fortune is another good choice though they will be stiffer than the KW's I would suggest 10k all around for these. PSS9's would be another option.

I'm actually eying the Ohlins DFVs, but the KWs and PSS9s are also on the list if I decide I don't want to spend quite as much.
Right now, I just want to drive the car hard and not have to worry about the fronts rubbing. Honestly, I'd rather run OEM hard and not rub than be "low" and have to baby the car in corners.
