Default opinion on Toyo T1-S?

What do you guys think of this tire Toyo Proxes T1-S on the S2000? My tire dealer thinks it is a very good tire for any performance car and would be very good in the wet and dry conditions. Any experiences?

I have a set on my Legend LS 6 speed coupe (215 50 17). Nice tire, good handling, braking, wet and dry, low noise and comfortable, but I can't imagine it on an S2000.

Louie,

It is a good tire. I currently have the T1S (225/40/18 in the front and 245/35/18 on the rear). If you want I will sell you my set they have about 500-600 miles on them because I can't wait to get the SO3's they are great. Good luck.

Fantastic tire and relatively light down the line (various sizes). I found them almost 2-lbs lighter than same-sized Yokohama A520's I was using on my last convertible. Great dry traction with much better than average wet capabilities. Onlinetires.com has decent pricing as does tirenet.com I think if Toyo had a contract with TireRack the Proxes would be one of their better sellers. In my opinion, the T1-S is as good a performance tire as you will find for the price.

Louie,

I love the T1-s. Great looks, good grip to longevity ratio...and the most important thing:

They handle awsome in the rain down to the wear bar.

Get 245/45/16 and 205/55/16 for the T1-S sizes for your S2000.

I just got the Toyos mounted last week with the sizes Phantom mentioned. I just drove and autoxed it in the rain yesterday and it was awesome. The tires don't quite stick as much as the S02s did in the dry, but they should last considerably longer as well as have excellent wet grip. They are also very predictable at the limits of adhesion, hope this helps.

Hi Mas

Because they are so quiet and smooth riding. Ultimate grip for the Toyos were not as great as the Dunlop SP9000s I had on my Legend before (of course the Dunlops were 215 45 17s and the Toyos, 215 50 17.)

I'm following this thread closely, though, because if folks have tried the Toyos on their S2000s and find them comparable or better than the S02s, I'll consider putting a set on my S2000 which appears to go through S02s as quickly as I go through a bag of M&Ms.

Yeah, I'm also very much interested in hearing from folks who're using proxes. I got the car in winter and traded in the stock S02s for winter tires. I'll need a summer tire in a month or so. I've used the proxes and loved them on the prelude. However, I never really got a chance to try the stock S02s or the S03s that I hear are better in rain/etc. Would be nice to be able to make up my mind soon. I'm going with the proxes unless I hear that the S03s are better than them.
