Default old topic, new question, wheel spacers

OK guys been searching for a while looking to get a straight answer.

1#: my 01 is NOT lowered, and i most likely will not lower it. ap2 wheels. but i do want to run 25mm wheel spacers in the rear 15mm up front. will i need to modify anything if it is at factory height?

#2: are eBay wheel spacers OK>? are they safe? i really don't want to spend $200 on h&r spacers if the ones from china will do the exact same thing for $80.

Thanks,

Matt

25mm wont work on an ap2 wheel. I recommend you do 20mm in the rear instead if you don't want any rubbing issues. 15mm up front will be fine. Ive always used inexpensive ebay spacers without issues. Just make sure you get hub centric for the rears so the surface duplicates the factory hub. Front doesn't matter as much since its not under power.

I would say wheel spacers are pretty important in terms of safety... it's not like you're slapping in a new air freshener on your car.
Now I'm not preaching you should get name brand for everything... everybody has a budget... but there are parts that you can cheap out on and some you shouldn't

If you buy cheap ebay spacers and the part the fails, it could be catastrophic.

Anyways, 25mm in the rears and 15mm front should be fine.

Not to beat you up here, so your saying that if you buy a "generic" spacer on ebay, that the metallurgy will be worse then an H&R spacer and therefor dangerous? Should you only buy forged wheels too? Its a wedge of metal, the more important aspect is what grade the studs are since these take the load, and that shouldn't be difficult to find out when shopping. You ever heard of any wheel spacers failing? I haven't.

Should fit? Have you actually put a 25mm spacer on the rear of an s2k with ap2 wheels? If you want to roll the fenders and do a bumper tab relocate then sure no problem, but that wasn't what the question that was inferred. If it were factory ap1 wheels then yes id agree, ive done it. And im pretty sure they were generic spacers I got off Ebay.

I dont think there is anything wrong with generic spacers per se. Just make sure the hub bore is correct. Also, you need to put extended studs to run spacers. Otherwise, youll have to pay the premium for spacers with extended studs like hr and ichiba.

You don't need extended studs, even the cheap kind are available with the studs built in and are completely bolt-on. I'd recommend 15mm front, 20mm rear also.

Thanks for the info!

Ok how about I cheap out on the wheel spacers and buy factory Honda studs, or napa quality studs to use instead of the ones that come with the spacers?

I would never run the kind with studs built-in on track.

As for the spacers, if you get the kind that use extended studs on the hub, then the ebay ones are fine. Throw away the studs that are included with the spacer and get ARP extended studs.
