I have driven almost all of them. The Advan and the RE01R would be the closest to an R compound tire for the street that I have tested. The RE050A Pole Position would give you longer tread life and better wet traction but would give up some in the dry to the first two tires.

my tire of choice overall would be the Reo1r.. however im scared of overall way the car would feel with the 225/245 setup... is their that much snapoversteer with that setup with the UK alignment....?

Grassroots Motorsports Magazine just came out with their street tire autocross and track ratings. The Azenis came out with the best times, trailed closely by the AD07s and the RE-01Rs. This is based on absolute best time and also the average of all runs; each time the Azenis came out on top.
If you want the ultimate street grip, get the Azenis. But if you live in an area where it rains a good amount, you should know that they aren't *that* great in the rain, unless you're careful when it rains. They are the cheapest and come in good sizes for 17 inch wheels.
The AD07s have awesome grip do well with daily driving, but are the most expensive by far. The only drawback to these tires are the price and treadlife (my friends e36 M3 went through a set in less than 10,000 miles).
The RE-01Rs have awesome grip as well (I have them on my AP1, 205/225) and work well in the rain. They also have become cheaper lately at tire rack and I heard a rumor that Bridgestone will offer a $100 rebate to SCCA members who purchase a set of RE-01Rs.

SCCA is Sports Car Club of America, they hold autocrosses and track events all across the country. Check it out here: http://www.scca.org/
If you want to autocross, that's the place to start. Though, membership is $50 to $80 a year with national and local dues.
